During the panel “Digital Transformation in E&P” at the PetroTIC Seminar, PhDsoft CEO Duperron Marangon Ribeiro recounted that, at one edition of Hannover Messe, the world’s largest industrial technology fair, he was approached with the following question:

– Are you speaking of digital transformation or doing digital transformation?

“The fact is that many people talk about digital transformation, but few do digital transformation, because there is a great deal of fear of the process of change,” he explained during the panel. “In general, in Brazil, people talk a lot, but implement little,” he said.

“Brazilian companies with innovative technologies have difficulty placing their products on the Brazilian market, because companies are waiting to see whether other companies, among the competition, are using those technologies. This is a different mindset from more developed markets, which look to innovation and new technologies for ways to increase their competitiveness,” he explained.

“In those markets, technology companies grow more,” he added. “Technology abroad grows under better conditions,” Duperron concluded, as he listed the challenges of keeping technology at the state of the art in Brazil.

Taking part in the panel were Robert Antônio Cosmo Nunes, General Manager of Digital Transformation at Petrobras, Fernando Nery, founding partner of Modulo Security Solutions, and Cláudio Souza, Superintendent of Technical Data at the ANP, as speakers, and Marcio Lacs, CEO of AMT Solution Desk, as moderator.

The PetroTIC Seminar is a benchmark event at the convergence of the technology sector and the oil, gas, and energy production sector. This year, the theme was the Digital Transformation of Energy.
